Study Week 2015 – ‘A Vision for Life’

Study Week 2015 - 'A Vision for Life'

‘A Vision for Life’ was the title of the Dominican Study Week 2015.

This year’s Dominican Study Week was our biggest yet with 29 young adults from up and down the country gathering together in early July to study theology in the picturesque surroundings of Buckfast Abbey, Devon. As in previous years, a team of Dominican friars and sisters guided newcomers through an overview of Catholic theology based on the writings of the great Dominican theologian St Thomas Aquinas, whilst veterans from previous years were given the opportunity to delve more deeply into Aquinas’ ideas about the Person of Jesus and how he saves us. As usual we were welcomed in an extraordinarily generous manner by the Benedictine monastic community at Buckfast Abbey who invited us to share in their prayer. We were also fortunate enough to stay in the newly refurbished guesthouse at the monastery’s north gate which ensured that everyone was comfortable and extremely well fed. The icing on the cake was a pleasant trek across Dartmoor in which to general astonishment Fr Nicholas OP managed not to get lost and only one person fell in a bog!
