Jubilee Vespers at Westminster Cathedral

Saturday, April 30, 2016

Yesterday the Dominican family celebrated Solemn Vespers with His Eminence Vincent Cardinal Nichols, and in the presence of the Most Reverend Bruno Cadoré, Master of the Order of Preachers, at Westminster Cathedral.

There were in total 1100 people gathered in the cathedral, with around 55 friars, 70 sisters, and 90 lay Dominicans. Also present were the Abbots of Buckfast, Farnborough, and Worth Abbey and the Provincial of the British Province of the Society of Jesus, Fr. Dermot Preston. Mgr John Armitage, rector of the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham, was also in attendance, along with a number of other clergy from other religious orders and religious institutes.

Below are some photos taken by the photographer(s) of Westminster Cathedral.

Archbishop Malcolm McMahon, Archbishop of Liverpool, delivered the homily

Fr Bruno Cadoré, Master of the Order of Preachers

Fr Martin Ganeri, Prior Provincial of the Province of England.
